Wow, and just like that 2021 is done. Good riddance! It’s been one hell of year with plenty of ups and downs. I think we all deserve a beer!
We have some new lagers fresh for 2022! Tapped just in time for NYE, we have :
Baltic Porter – 8.8% ABV, 27 IBU
Say hello to the biggest and maltiest lager Milkhouse has brewed to date! This complex dark lager has heavenly aromas of dark chocolate and caramelized sugar, complimented by notes of cocoa, dark dried fruit, and a hint of licorice. We are very proud of this beer, and hope it brings you all much holiday cheer!
Baltic Brown Lager – 5.4% ABV, 20 IBU
Boasting the same malt profile as its bigger brother (Baltic Porter), this delicious brown lager knows a little thing or two about complexity! Brewed with local honey, this beauty has a lovely aroma of roasted malts and baking cocoa, followed by a clean and dry lager with a perfect balance of roastiness and drinkability. Lightly hopped to showcase the malt profile, this one is perfect for those cold and snowy nights.
Speaking of lagers, our delicious Heather Hill Honey Brown Lager returns in about five weeks with a new name! This lager was so popular that we decided to give it a nice long name and make this a regular offering here on the farm. Our Local Lager will take a little hiatus as we await a fresh batch of Maryland-malted pilsner malt.
Heather Hill Farm sits on 23 acres on the border of Frederick and Carroll County. While easily overlooked from the road (except for the windmill), this farm is notable for its “sand” pears, wild berries, mushroom foraging spots, and the perfect microclimate for producing brewers named Harry.
Lagerheads, rejoice! But for those that prefer something a little (or a lot) hoppier, STAIRWAY IPA should be back on tap for the weekend of January 7th.
Big things are happening in Maryland malting, as our friends at Dark Cloud Malthouse are moving shop and making improvements! We can’t wait for them to be up and running at full capacity!
